Research interests include: using routinely collected healthcare data and repurposing it for research, particularly in areas where a traditional randomised controlled trial would be challenging, expensive or unethical. Ed's research specifically investigates patterns in patient physiology during periods of critical illness.

Ed is a clinician working in anaesthesia and intensive care medicine. He is undertaking a PhD in clinical data science at UCL. His thesis explores the physiological trajectories of patients with severe infection inside intensive care.
